Simon White

Simon is the Founder and a Director of Solve Consulting. He established the business in July 2010 when he became a stay at home Dad to son Charlie – probably his most demanding client yet! Since then the business has grown to a full time operation supporting partners in the community.

As a qualified engineer Simon started his career in the construction industry working for a number of large commercial organisations including Transfield and Lend Lease. His interest in community oriented projects then led him to get involved in emergency response and disaster recovery activities both in Australia (post cyclone Larry) and overseas (in Sri Lanka, following the tsunami). In 2006 he transitioned fully into the emergency services sector taking on the role of Manager of Assets and Infrastructure for the Victoria State Emergency Service, where he was responsible for managing $90 million of assets across the State and supporting major emergency response events.

In 2015, after serving as a Board Director of the Mercy Health Foundation, Simon took on a full-time leadership role as Executive Director tasked with effecting a transformative change of the organisation.  During this time Simon was responsible for the development of a long-term strategy focusing on the establishment of financial sustainability and a organisational structure to support a greater impact of those in need. Having set the Foundation on its new course, Simon stepped back into Solve in April 2018 armed with a new found appreciation of the NFP sector.

Simon is the ideas and numbers man. He loves getting his head around how businesses work operationally and looking for ways to help them function more effectively. He is an analytical thinker and is able to quickly understand complex issues and develop practical solutions that exceed client expectations.

Simon loves to get to know people, and immerses himself in his clients’ businesses so that their problems become his challenges. Simon holds a BEng (Hons) from Swinburne University, an MBA from Melbourne Business School, and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).

Family is a big priority for Simon – as evidenced by his one and only tattoo. Simon is Dad to Charlie (7) and Taylor (15) and can often be found building Lego or baking with the kids. Simon took up running in 2011, completing his first marathon in 2013. Then in 2017 he completed one of his life long dreams – to trek the Kokoda track.

Simon loves a challenge, whether it be personal or professional, and is passionate about delivering successful outcomes to the benefit of the community. All in all he’s what you might call a very nice chap!
